Free for all Links Pages

These types of pages comprise a list of, generally unrelated, links. You type the title and URL of your site into a form, and it is automatically added to the list in the specified category. There's generally a limit to the number of sites listed, and when this limit is reached older entries are overwritten. These are only really worth submitting to if they have a theme - all links on a specific subject.

Advantages of Free for All Links

• Your site is immediately listed - useful when you first launch your site.
• As some search engines use the number of links to a page as part of the way they rank sites, you may be nudged up in their placements. However, be aware that lists of unrelated sites add very little, if anything, to searh engine rankings.
• Other people visiting to add their links might visit your site.

Drawbacks of Free for All Links

• Unless the Links page is focused on related topics, you might find that the majority of people visiting the page are doing so only to add their sites.
• They are a temporary measure - your listing will eventually be overwritten.
• Time consuming for a short-term strategy.
